Plaid Cymru Assembly Member for Mid and West Simon Thomas AM has quizzed First Minister Carwyn Jones over the future of Pembrokeshire’s overnight paediatric services at Withybush Hospital.
The Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Climate Change and Rural Affairs asked the question during First Minister’s Questions on Tuesday in the Senedd.
Simon Thomas AM said:
“There are current temporary measures in place for paediatric services in Pembrokeshire but they are only temporary. It is vitally important that permanent overnight paediatric services are restored to Withybush Hospital.
“As a long-term supporter and campaigner of ensuring vital services are kept locally in Pembrokeshire, it’s disappointing to see a lack of long-term thinking from the Labour Welsh Government.
“It’s about time that Health Secretary and Labour Government start to listen to the needs of the people of Pembrokeshire, stop centralising vital services and reinstate permanent overnight paediatric services at Withybush Hospital.”
