Plaid Cymru AM for Mid and West Simon Thomas has welcomed news that the proposed improvement works planned to the A470/A493 Tywyn junction in Dolgellau have been given the green light.

The Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Energy, Climate Change and Rural Affairs stated:

“This is great news for the people of Dwyfor Meirionnydd, who’ve had to deal with many issues and tragic incidents over the last few years on the A470 road.

“The Cabinet Secretary for the Economy and Infrastructure has ensured me that the works are due to start in January 2017 and should be completed by the end of March.

“It’s vitally important that the much-needed improvements do not adversely impact traffic around Dolgellau and that the work is completed efficiently within this time frame.

“I will continue to push the Welsh Government for much-needed improved infrastructure around Mid and West Wales, and will continually support the views and issues of my constituents in Dwyfor Meirionnydd who elected a Plaid Cymru AM at the 2016 Assembly Elections.”
